SERVICES:  SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT SERVICES - HEARING DISABILITY

SPD is responsible for rendering Social Work services to the deaf community in the Gauteng North area. Since receiving this mandate from the state, this organisation has made great strides in ensuring that persons with hearing disabilities have access to services. SPD has also established working relations with Special Schools education learners with hearing impairment.

Included in the services is access to a sign language interpreter for ease of communication. Sign language interpretation services are available to clients in Courts of Law  and interviews.

SPD believes that. sign Language should be taught to all service providers in all communities to ensure that deaf persons are assisted to communicate. The hearing Disability Section will continue to offer the spectrum of services required in this field.
